Warm, cosy, water-repellent: what else do you need?
Wearing this jacket is like being wrapped in your favorite blanket while watching the snow fall – but outside. Its thick and cuddly fleece lining wraps you and your baby in soft warmth on cold winter days. The softshell fabric with a 10,000 mm water column keeps rain and snow at bay, while its high breathability makes it perfect from fall to cold winter days.
Designed to make your life cozier
Here’s what we thought of: two pockets with flaps, plus a second pair at the perfect height for warm hands; an elastic hem at the bottom to block cold air from below; soft elastic cuffs to keep you warm; and a large adjustable, removable hood. A hidden back zipper lets you carry your baby on your back – no one will guess it’s a babywearing coat when worn solo. Like every mamalila jacket, the baby insert zips up to the top to protect your chest from the cold. It also features a foldable hood to protect your baby from bad weather (or nosy strangers), with wind straps to fasten it to your jacket on breezy days.
Eco-conscious design & production
Made from recycled polyester and free from forever chemicals, we used our Bionic Finish Eco© as a waterrepellent finish. Designed in our German office and thoughtfully produced by our BSCI- and GOTS-certified supplier, it offers warmth and protection with a limited impact on the environment.

- Pregnancy: Zip the pregnancy insert into your jacket to create plenty of room for your growing baby bump.
- Front carrying: After your baby is born, simply zip the baby insert into your jacket. It creates enough space for your baby in the carrier and keeps both of you protected under one jacket.

THE jacket I needed
I bought this babywearing jacket mainly for the pregnancy option, so I could keep my bump nice and warm this fall, as my little girl is due in November.

Depending on the model, the jacket adapts to your growing bump in different ways. Some include a pregnancy insert, others feature expandable side zippers, while some are designed with enough room from the start.

You can use a mamalila babywearing jacket for as long as you carry your child.
Depending on the model, the babywearing insert is suitable from birth up to around two years of age.
How long you'll actually use it depends mainly on your child's size and your family's carrying routine. Once your child prefers to walk most of the time, simply remove the insert and continue wearing your jacket as a regular outdoor jacket. That's what makes it such a sustainable, long-lasting companion.
Under a mamalila softshell babywearing jacket, your baby has plenty of room to breathe — as long as the jacket is adjusted correctly.
- Your baby's face should never be covered by fabric. You can easily adjust the height of the baby insert to ensure this.
- The baby hood can also be adjusted to protect against wind and rain without covering your baby's face.
- Your baby's airways must remain clear at all times. Our baby inserts can be adjusted individually, allowing the babywearing jacket to fit snugly while leaving plenty of space around your baby's head and face.
A good rule of thumb: You should always be able to see your baby's face and easily kiss the top of their head. Be sure to check regularly that your baby's nose and mouth remain uncovered—especially with newborns.
Our softshell babywearing jacket does not replace a baby carrier — it simply protects both of you from wind, rain, and cold.
Your baby should always be carried ergonomically in a suitable baby carrier or wrap.
Make sure your baby is positioned high enough, sits in the recommended M-shaped position with knees higher than the hips, and can breathe freely at all times.
