Yes. The fabric used offers tested UPF 50+ UV protection.

This means that more than 98% of harmful UV rays are blocked. Most importantly, the UV protection does not come from chemical treatments, but from the special fibre structure and weave of the material.

Nevertheless, direct sunlight should generally be avoided as much as possible for babies, especially during midday hours. UV protective clothing is a valuable addition to sun protection, but it does not replace general caution when it comes to sun exposure.

Our fabric was developed specifically for warm temperatures. It combines polyester with oyster shell fibers and therefore has special temperature-regulating properties.

The fibers efficiently transport moisture away from the skin and dry significantly faster than cotton. At the same time, the lightweight material ensures good air circulation.

Please note that every additional layer of fabric provides some warmth. However, a thin, breathable protective layer is always more comfortable than direct sun exposure on the skin for babies. Many parents therefore find this sun protection solution much more comfortable than other UV protection options.

For effective sun protection, certain material properties are essential. Polyester naturally offers higher UV protection than many natural fibers and maintains this protection even after frequent washing.

The fabric we use is made from polyester and oyster shell powder. Compared to many natural fibers, polyester dries significantly faster, wicks away moisture more effectively and remains pleasantly lightweight even in summer temperatures.

These properties make this fabric ideal for babywearing in summer.

This fabric is particularly easy to care for:

• Machine washable at 30°C to 40°C on a gentle cycle
• Do not use fabric softener, as it can affect the functional fibers
• Air drying recommended
• Do not bleach
• Do not dry clean

Thanks to its quick-drying properties, this fabric is usually ready to use again within just a few hours. The UV protection remains effective even after many washes, as it is integrated into the fiber structure itself and does not rely on a coating.

On warm days, the rule is often: less is more. Lightweight, airy clothing made from breathable materials helps regulate body temperature.

Many babies feel comfortable in a short-sleeved bodysuit or even just a nappy when temperatures are high, especially when additional sun protection is used.

The following are particularly important:

• Protecting the head and neck with a sun hat
• Sufficient sun protection for arms and legs
• Regular fluid intake (adapt according to the baby’s age)
• Staying in the shade whenever possible

The best way to check your baby’s temperature is NOT by touching their hands or feet, as these are often cooler in babies.

Instead, regularly feel your baby’s neck or upper back.

Here are the signs of a comfortable temperature:

• Skin feels warm, but not hot
• Neck is dry or slightly warm
• Baby appears relaxed and alert

Possible signs of overheating:

• Very hot or sweaty neck
• Red skin
• Restlessness or unusual tiredness
• Rapid breathing 

 Adjust clothing and sun protection as needed and seek shade regularly.
